Transit Visa

Documents Required

Application Documents (Common for Both Transit Visas):

• Completed and signed Schengen visa application form.
• Printed and signed application checklist.
• Valid passport or travel document (with at least 2 blank pages and valid for 3 months beyond your return).
• UK Residency:
  • UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code (Share codes for work or study purposes will not be accepted.)
• Two recent passport-size photographs (see Photo Specifications section).

Italy Airport Transit Visa (ATV):

• Visa for the final destination country (if required).
• Confirmed onward flight reservation.
• Travel insurance covering a minimum of €30,000 for medical emergencies.

Italy Transit Visa for Seamen:

• Seaman’s Book (valid for the duration of the assignment).
• Letter from the local shipping agency with:
  • Port of entry details.
  • Vessel name, arrival, and departure dates.
  • Seaman’s role on the ship.
• Certificate of the shipping agency (valid licence copy required).
• Employment contract copy.
• Confirmed travel reservation (if applicable).
• Travel insurance (€30,000 coverage across the Schengen Area).

Proof of Finance (Applicable to Both Visa Types):

• Recent three months’ bank statements demonstrating sufficient funds to cover any expenses during transit.
• If sponsored: Sponsorship letter along with the sponsor’s bank statements and proof of employment/income.

Travel Insurance Requirements (Applicable to Both Visa Types):

• Minimum coverage: €30,000.
• Must cover medical emergencies, hospitalisation, and repatriation.
• Must be valid across all Schengen countries for the duration of the transit.

All documents must be presented in original with one photocopy. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Photo Specifications

Applicants must submit two recent passport-sized photographs that meet the following specifications:

• Background: Light (white or off-white) background, ensuring clear contrast with facial features.
• Quality: High-quality, clear, and in focus—no shadows or glare.
• Expression: Full-face, neutral expression (no smiles). Eyes must be open and visible.
• Accessories: No sunglasses or tinted glasses. Head coverings are only permitted for religious or cultural reasons; facial features must remain visible.
• Dimensions: Standard passport size (35mm x 45mm).
• Recency: Photograph must have been taken within the last six months.
• Format: Printed on high-quality photographic paper and attached to the visa application form.
